In the first episode of Sliders Quinn's first slide takes him to an Earth so much like our own that even when things seem odd to him he isn't even aware that he is on another Earth until he returns to his own.

The first journey of Quinn's is the greatest journey of all, because it tells us the viewers that everything we know and hold true and dear, could be a lie. Even the bold statement of the traffic lights tells us that what we take as a common reality is far from the truth of the way things really are.

This first journey is the keystone to understanding the rest of the episodes. If you don't realize that our very own history is so full of fiction and out right lies, then the rest of what I'm about to tell you in future posts will either be lost on you, or disregaurded as the ramblings of an insane person.

One of the characters we see early in this episode is a bum standing on his soapbox (the park bench) and rambling on about the evils of capitalism and the glories of communism. In my book both are evil. However to quote Winston Churchhill "If you are 20 years old and you are not a socialist, you have no heart. If you are 40 years old and you are still a socialist, you have no brain." While communism seems great in your 20's when you finally mature in your 40's you realize communism truly only benifits a small group and the masses at large pay the price.

While capitalism isn't a walk in the park, it is probably the greatest econimic system on the planet. The problem with this show and many other, plus real life, is that America's Capitalism wouldn't be so great if we didn't have our republic government system.

Many people, especially on television try to convince us that we live in a democracy in America. I'm outraged everytime I hear the words democracy and America used together. Since 1776 America has been a Republic, and while our governement, press, legal system, television and various others want us to be a democracy and are forcing us down the path of democracy, we will forever be a republic.

The problem with America is that most people in America have no idea what the difference between democracy and republic are.

As for the rest of the world thumbing its nose at American capitalism, they should wake up and realize tha American capitalism isn't spreading, but that the capitalist economic system is being seen as the only one that works. That is why other countries are adopting it. The problem here, is that they are taking their cues from America. America's capitalism economics system isn't capitalism. America's capitalism died in 1905 when the ISS came into being. The ISS is a communist system that disguises itself as capitalism.

In this first episode, Quinn runs into his first double, a version of himself that has been married 2 years, and has made 8 slides. One of the worlds he descibes is where the Cubs have won three straight world series games (an Earth where losers are winners), he says he has been to an Earth just this side of paradise (a Utopia Earth), its at this time that his vortex opens and returns him to his world. I'm sure if he could have continued he would have explained the other 5 worlds as equally as nice as the first two. While I would like to think of our Earth as a paradise the powers that be seem enthusiastic to make it hell. However to Quinn's double our Earth could be much better than his. I would loved to have seen his next 4 slides as I'm sure this other version of Quinn was explaining the 12 gates of heaven to us, or atleast 12 Earths we all would like our Earth to be more like. I say 12 because Wade later says that Quinn's double has slide nearly 12 times... and this is my basis.

The Iced Earth (aka Winter Earth) is the actual first world all four of our lead characters end up on. I date this world in reference to the late 60's and the 70's when the mass media kept telling us we where heading into the next Ice Age. With this slide we start our timeline roughly someplace between 1967 and 1975.

The next slide drops our adventurers (I'd say) somewhere within the same time on the timeline. This communist Earth (aka Red Dawn Earth) is the fear we had going from the cold war, and was part of the reason why are government had us fighting in Vietnam.

The final world they slide to in this episode is to a world very much like their own with the only immediate notable difference being that Quinn's father is still alive. While I don't think this world has any significant point to bring to my timeline, it does remind me that if you do nothing, eventually the reality of the situation (or the truth) will present itself.

I remember catching various episodes of Sliders when it originally aired, and loving the idea of being able to see what could have happened in my life time had or had not certain events taken place.

Around 2002 I was able to watch nearly every episode, and started thinking how oddly many of the episodes favored real life events. This was nothing new though as many television shows borrowed from events of the past, and current events.

It wasn't until my most recent watchings in 2010 that I could see there was a true life timeline of events being told of our past, or present and our future. Don't believe me? Please... read on!

I hope as you read through the information I have to present, that you too will realize that people in the world are trying to make the truth available to us, even if their only outlet is disguising it within a sci-fi television show.
